Dr. John BaldwinJohn Timothy Baldwin, Ph.D., joined the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in 2002. He is a Biomedical Engineer and a Program Director in the Advanced Technologies and Surgery Branch in the Institute's Divison of Cardiovascular Diseases. His expertise lies in bioengineering, therapeutic and circulatory assist devices, modeling of biological systems, diagnostic instrumentation, and biomedical sensing devices. Dr. Baldwin also serves as the NHLBI Project Officer for contract research on pediatric ventricular devices.

Dr. Baldwin received Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in bioengineering from Penn State University after receiving a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. The author or coauthor of 11 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Baldwin has made presentations at several national and international meeting of biomedical societies. He is a Fellow of the American Institute for Biological and Medical Engineering and a member of the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs, the Biomedical Engineering Society, the Society for Heart Valve Diseases, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Sigma Xi.
